Ross Hutchens, aka Lonefront, is a multi-instrumentalist originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. He began with the violin at an early age and earned a bachelor’s degree in music with a focus on Jazz Guitar. He eventually shifted toward audio engineering, transitioning into performing live sets using hardware and modular synthesizers as Lonefront.

After years spent on the dancefloor, he debuted his Live PA at DIY events in Minneapolis before being invited to perform at established parties such as Communion, System, and Even Furthur. In 2021, Lonefront stepped onto the national stage by opening for DVS1 in Los Angeles at the first Wall of Sound event in the US. He later released his debut EP “Pronoia” on Enemy Records and as an Intellephunk resident performs each year at The Great Beyond festival.

In 2023 he launched Uncoiled, a label designed to focus on releasing hypnotic and driving techno composed using experimental compositional methods. Tracks from the label have been supported by notable artists including DVS1, Luke Slater, Donato Dozzy, Setaoc Mass, and DJ Nobu, who featured the track “6” inhis BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.

Following the launch of Uncoiled, Lonefront toured the US and made his European debut with a performance at Säule.

Lonefront's music displays a deep understanding and knowledge of modern tools while staying true to a sound that is heavy, proper, and staunchly rooted in techno's American Midwest tradition.

Ross Hutchens is a 2025 ACF McKnight Visiting Composer with the American Composers Forum.
